DDP door-to-door: what is included, and what should you confirm?
Door-to-door describes the journey you want. DDP also has a specific meaning in a sale of goods. Before booking, make sure the supplier agreement and the shipping quote describe the same responsibilities.
What DDP means
Under ICC Incoterms® 2020, Delivered Duty Paid places transport and export/import clearance responsibilities, including applicable import duties and taxes, on the seller up to the agreed destination. Delivery occurs when the goods are available there on the arriving vehicle, ready for unloading. The buyer normally handles unloading.
PGH’s forwarding service helps arrange transport; its quote does not by itself change the sales terms between you and your supplier.
Write down the exact destination
Give the full address, receiving contact and any delivery restrictions. Confirm whether the quoted destination is your shop, warehouse or another agreed point. If access or unloading needs special arrangements, raise this before booking.
Ask these questions before you pay
- Who handles clearance, and what accurate product details or documents are needed from us?
- Are applicable duties and taxes included in this offer?
- Does the service start at the supplier or a China receiving warehouse?
- What is agreed for final delivery, unloading, storage and insurance?
Confirm the service for your cargo
Share the product, packing details and destination with PGH so the available DDP option and written scope can be checked. Door-to-door does not mean every type of goods or every delivery location has the same requirements. Keep your confirmed quote and supplier terms together.
